After thousands of prototypes and millions of test cycles, the Calgary-based 3D robotics supply chain company is unveiling the first commercialized version of its robot

CALGARY, Alberta, September 19, 2022--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attabotics, the world’s first 3D robotics supply chain system for modern commerce, today revealed the Attabot™ 2022, the first commercialized version of its proprietary robot. Built stronger and smarter than its predecessor, the Attabot™ 2022 boasts a simplified mechatronic design that reduces operational costs while increasing the efficiency of automated picking and packing of goods.

Beginning customer operations in August 2022, the Attabot™ 2022 is equipped with a flexible payload to accommodate larger bins up to 16" tall at 100lb – an increase of 25% from Attabotics’ previous robot release. Its ultra-lean, modular design translates into 60% fewer parts than the previous beta model and allows for further flexibility and forward compatibility. Additional features include increased acceleration due to high torque motors, enhanced telemetrics for route optimization, improved navigation sensors, and the ability to operate in multiple temperature zones with an unlimited number of robot, structure, and workstation configurations. The Attabot™ 2022 has also been adapted for e-grocery as the structure encloses and protects items from outside contaminants.

"Despite supply chain constraints and chip shortages, we’ve been agile in ensuring all components are accounted for while transitioning our customers from robot prototypes to the new commercialized Attabot™ 2022 technology," said Scott Gravelle, CEO and Founder of Attabotics. "The ability to commercialize technology – to move a product from concept to market efficiently – is crucial in light of today’s high-demand e-commerce landscape. It’s been a long journey to develop commercial hardware, but I’m proud of the Attabotics team."

Attabotics’ scalable micro-fulfillment system condenses traditional warehouse aisles into a single, vertical storage structure. Inside the structure, robotic shuttles move in three-dimensional space to store and deliver goods to workers on the perimeter that pick, pack and ship modern commerce orders. This reduces a company’s warehouse space by 85% (in addition to a reduction in carbon emissions via last-mile delivery) and accelerates shipping processes to meet consumer expectations. Reinforcing an eco-friendly ethos, Attabotics’ unique architecture maximizes the flexibility and speed of warehouse fulfillment and optimizes space, allowing additional storage capacity and throughput to support growth without the need for expansion.

Attabotics is continuously refining and evolving its hardware and software technologies to meet growing market needs across industries. With its enhanced software and hardware, the Attabot™ 2022 is a platform that drives value over time by evolving alongside advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities.

Attabotics is the world’s first 3D robotics supply chain system for modern commerce. Inspired by the framework of ant colonies, Attabotics replaces the rows and aisles of traditional fulfillment centers with a patented storage structure and robotics shuttles that utilize both horizontal and vertical space, reducing the company’s warehouse needs by 85 percent. By empowering retailers to place fulfillment centers near high-density urban areas, Attabotics helps create jobs and decrease carbon emissions by closing the last-mile delivery gap. Attabotics has been adopted by major brands and other retailers across apparel, food and beverage and home goods. Attabotics is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with fulfillment centers across the United States and Canada.

The tailwinds from the semiconductor specialist's recent Global Technical Conference (GTC) gave way to reports that Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) big Windows 11 22H2 update had caused a series of problems for gamers using Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs). A growing list of game players reported a laundry list of performance issues after downloading the update, according to an article by the website Bleeping Computer.

Plenty of high-growth cloud stocks skyrocketed in value over the past two years, yet quickly surrendered all those gains this year as rising interest rates drove investors back toward more conservative investments. Twilio's (NYSE: TWLO) cloud-based communication platform handles text messages, voice calls, videos, and other integrated features in mobile apps. Instead of building those features from scratch -- which can be buggy, time-consuming, and difficult to scale as an app gains more users -- developers can outsource the work to Twilio with just a few lines of code.

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) both became high-growth companies again under visionary CEOs. After taking the helm at Microsoft in 2014, CEO Satya Nadella set the tech giant on a fresh course by expanding its cloud-based services while reducing its dependence on desktop software. Microsoft developed more mobile apps for iOS and Android, launched new Surface devices, expanded its Xbox gaming business, and abandoned its struggling Windows Phone platform.

The quest to build the perfect humanoid robot is heating up, as Figure -- a startup currently operating in stealth -- is developing a multi-purpose bipedal 'bot it plans to pilot in 2024. Presently the Bay Area startup's efforts most closely align with those detailed by Elon Musk with Tesla's forthcoming Optimus ’bot. It’s effectively a kind of holy grail among roboticists, a humanoid robot that could fill in a lot of daily tasks, from manual labor to eldercare. Bipedal robots are far easier to project ourselves into -- it’s a big part of the reason they dominate so much science fiction.
